You can build a future
An affordable, quality home is critical to a person’s wellbeing — physically, mentally, economically, developmentally.
Living in a safe, warm, dry home is essential to a child’s health and development.
The lack of affordable housing is an issue that impacts us all and there are many ways you can help.
Our goal
Right now, there are 2,295 people on the Public Housing Register in Wellington
(from https://www.hud.govt.nz/)
We want to build 20 homes per year for the next five years.
To do this, we need 30% of the cost of each project, allowing us to borrow up to 70%.
We want the people living in our homes to thrive.
Big or small, your support can help us reach our goal.
Donate now
100% of your gift helps finance new homes, or directly improve the life of our tenants.
Your support enables Dwell to continue building new warm, safe, secure homes for whānau who can’t find housing through the private sector.
Every dollar helps. $30 can buy a basin tap, $100 supplies paint to decorate a room, $1,000 buys a shower unit and $30,000 builds the whole bathroom.
Your contribution has an impact, whether it’s a one-off or a regular payment through our secure website. Donate now.

Your gift will help us create a future where all our whānau can flourish and thrive.
Partner
We can’t do the mahi we do alone. Dwell values its partnerships with companies and individuals who work with us to bring new homes to the community.
Any pro bono or discounted professional services we receive from our partners helps each dollar stretch further.
Please contact us if you are interested in partnering with Dwell.
Volunteer
If you are looking for a meaningful opportunity to help, you might consider volunteering with Dwell. We welcome anyone who can give us the gift of their time.

Share
You can help Dwell raise our profile by spreading the word about who we are and what we do.
If you know anyone who has the time, resources or finances to help Dwell, please share our story and ask them to contact us.
Other ways - invest
Another way people have helped Dwell has been by investing via a low- or no-interest loan. Wholesale investors have helped Dwell buy land and build new homes. Saving in interest rates makes a big difference to our ability to do more.
Our collaborative impact
-
Community Housing collaboration
We participated in a pilot project with Community Housing Aotearoa and SPM Assets (who provide lifecycle asset management software), which gave us access to the database at a good price.
-
University of Otago research
Dwell is one of seven housing providers selected to participate in public housing research led by the University of Otago. This ambitious project aims to map the effectiveness of different types of housing in achieving key wellbeing and health goals.
-
Wellington City Mission premise purchase
We reached an agreement with Wellington City Mission to purchase their current office buildings in Newtown for another development. We will take ownership around April 2024.
