Maroha Te Aroha Mural
This mural, done in a figurative expressionism style, wants to capture the complexity of human experience. The emphasis on both positive and negative shapes highlights the importance of perspective. If we look beyond surface appearances and keep being curious when people trigger us, we can remember that unity and interconnectedness exist beneath the chaos of daily life.
The concept of merging forms speaks to the essence of our shared humanity, resonating with the idea that, at a fundamental level, we are all part of the same fabric. The choice of circles as a recurring motif symbolizes inclusivity, the celebration of diversity and the concept that at the quantum level we are all one in a soup of atoms. And yet in this wholeness, every individual living being brings something unique to the collective.
We need more circles – the world has been too square and boxing people in for far too long. It needs more circles, because circles unite diversity. If there is a word or symbol that intrigues you, check out its meaning …. it might have a message for you!
In a world that often prioritises rigidity and certainty, this work serves as a reminder of the beauty found in complexity and the potential for unity in diversity. It’s a celebration of life’s many layers and an invitation to explore the infinite possibilities that lie within us.
If YOU can shine in your particular gift or intelligence and share it with others (as well as being open to learning from others sharing their gifts with you), then together our diversity can create a harmonious and beautiful community where everyone’s gifts are discovered and appreciated.
